EAST WATERFORD, William C. “Bill” Evelyn, 73, of East Waterford, died at 12:53 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at his home.
Born on December 24, 1938 in King of Prussia, Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Luther S. and Elsie (Lloyd) Evelyn. On February 12, 1981, he married his surviving wife, Donna K. (Stong) Evelyn, with whom he shared more than 31 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Irene Evelyn and her husband Teddy Hamilton, of Miami, Fla., one step daughter, Kim Becker and her husband Bob, of Mexico, one sister Phyllis Kuhna, of King of Prussia and he leaves behind two step grandchildren, Mariah K. Becker and R.J. Becker.
One sister, Margaret Eckman preceded him in death.
Bill was a 1957 graduate of Upper Marion Township High School, King of Prussia.
Mr. Evelyn was a truck driver all of his life and until retiring in 1994, after 40 years, he owned and operated Evelyn Trucking, of King of Prussia.
At one time Bill, an avid NASCAR fan, traveled the country to attend races. He also loved to sit around the garage drinking strong coffee with his buddies, when he wasn’t riding his tractor mowing, trimming and maintaining his farm.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at the East Waterford Cemetery, East Waterford, with Rev. Marsha Bookhamer officiating.
Viewing will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon, on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
