Obituary for Marian R. Metz

Marian R. Metz, 100, of Mifflintown died on November 16, 2018.
Born June 29, 1918, in Mexico, Walker Township, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late J. Foster Rumbaugh and Helen Kauffman Rumbaugh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Franklin Metz Jr., and her brother, Robert K. Rumbaugh (Helen), of Belleville. She is survived by two nephews, J. William Rumbaugh (Susan), of Huntingdon, and Robert K. Rumbaugh Jr. (Mary), of Mechanicsburg, and a great-niece.
Marian graduated from Mifflintown High School and West Chester Teachers College, and attended graduate school at Temple University. Following this, Marian taught for 35 years in the public schools of Juniata and Mifflin Counties, retiring from Mifflin County School District in 1975.
She was a member of Lost Creek Presbyterian Church, McAlisterville. She was also active in leadership roles in Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Colonists. She also was a long-time member of Mifflin/Juniata Chapter of the Pennsylvania Public School Retirees Association.
Services will be private, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., Mifflintown.
