Obituary for Donald L. "Donnie" Hart

Donald L. Hart, 69, of Thompsontown, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Ohesson Manor in Lewistown.
Born on July 12, 1948 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, he was a son of the late L. Wayne and Dorothy E. (Swartz) Hart. On November 22, 1973 in Thompsontown, he married his surviving wife, Susan K. (Regi) Hart with whom he was blessed to share more than 44 years of marriage.
Donnie is survived by two sons, Seth A. Hart and his wife Lyndsay and Adam D. Hart; a sister, Sandra R. Reed and her husband Carl, all of Thompsonstown; a brother, Kenneth W. Hart of Otwell, Indiana; 2 grandchildren, Kathryn A. Hart and Andrew P. Hart; his step-mother, Esther Hart; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a 1966 graduate of East Juniata High School, Cocolamus and a member of the Locust Run United Methodist Church.
Donnie honorably served our country from June 19, 1968 until his honorable discharge on June 18, 1970 in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War with a tour of duty in the Vietnam theatre.
He began his working career at Regester Chevrolet in Thompsontown, where he was employed for over twenty years beginning as a Mechanic and obtained the role of Shop Foreman. He also owned and operated two hydroponic tomato greenhouses in Thompsontown. In 1989, along with his wife, Donnie bought the Mexico Market which is still proudly run by his family today.
He was a former board member of the Thompsontown Municipal Authority. Donnie was very artistic and proved that he could do just about anything. He enjoyed going to different estate sales and produce auctions, but his favorite thing was just being Pappy to his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Thompsontown United Methodist Church, Main St., Thompsontown with the Reverend Dr. Barbara Yorks officiating and where the Juniata County Veterans Council will accord military burial honors. Interment will be private at Locust Run Cemetery, Thompsontown.
A viewing will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from the Thompsontown United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Hart's memory to the Locust Run United Methodist Church, 25 Locust Run Road, Thompsontown, PA 17094
