Erika Hunker, 78, of Mifflintown passed away at 3:42 p.m. on Friday,
March 16, 2018 at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on August 29, 1939, in Mannheim, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Margareta Greta (Meyer) Hecker. On February 7, 1962 she married her surviving husband, Arthur R. “Joe” Hunker, with whom she was blessed to share more than 56 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her son, Arthur R. Hunker Jr. and his wife Teresa, of Millerstown; 2 grandsons, Barak Hunker and his companion, Sara Gould, of Harrisburg and Zachary Hunker, of Millerstown.
She was a past member of the American Legion Post # 298, Mifflintown and the past president of its ladies auxiliary.
Mrs. Hunker will long be remembered as a waitress at Stop 35 and later the Family House Restaurant, both of Mifflintown.
Erika loved animals, bowling and playing bingo.
A memorial service, officiated by her niece Roxann McGinnis, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown. Interment will be private and held in the Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.
There will be no viewing; however a visitation will be held from 6 p.m. on Wednesday until the time of service at the funeral home.
