Obituary for Harold S. "Pooch" Kipp

Harold S. “Pooch” Kipp, 95, of McAlisterville passed away at 2:09 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on April 10, 1922 in McAlisterville, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Harry C. and Blanche (Sieber) Kipp. On May 14, 1942 he married his surviving wife, L. Louise (Wagner) Kipp, with whom he was blessed to share more than 75 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Linda L. (Kipp) Brofee and her husband Merril, of Millerstown; a granddaughter Leanne Kipp-Brofee Morgan and her husband Matthew; great grandsons, Mason, Levi and Max Morgan; as well as seven nieces and nephews.
A brother, Harry Kipp and three sisters, Laura Bashore, Hannah Burns and Blanche Schlegel, preceded him in death.
Harold was a 1939 graduate of Fayette High School and a member of the Lost Creek Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Kipp worked as a surveyor, for the PA Dept. of Highways and later worked at Standard Steel, Burnham, until proudly serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Sergeant, during WW II. After returning to McAlisterville he along with his wife Louise owned and operated Kipp’s Meat Market, for 41 years until retiring in 1986. Also during this time he was a partner in the ownership of the Arrow Drive-In Theater, Danville
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
