Lois W. Griffith, 73, of McAlisterville, passed away at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018 at her home.
Born on August 13, 1944, in Fayette Township, Juniata County she was a daughter of the late Ralph A. and Bertha (Smith) Willoughby. On May 17, 1968 she married her surviving husband Charles W. Griffith with whom she was blessed to share nearly 50 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Kenneth E. Griffith and his wife Joy, of Spring Mills, Andrew W. Griffith and his wife Sherre, Dawn Hosler and her husband Benjamin, all of Port Royal; siblings, Virginia Forry, of Mifflin, Evelyn Heister and her husband Robert, of McAlisterville, Janet Imes and her husband Terry, Sr., of Walnut; and she leaves behind two grandchildren, Cheyene Wileman and her husband Brian, and Hunter Griffith.
A son Paul M. Griffith and a sister, Betty Rogers, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Griffith was a 1963 graduate of East Juniata High School and member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church, McAlisterville; who in earlier life had worked as a seamstress at Richfield Manufacturing and the East Salem Shirt Factory. Later she had worked at Dean’s Store in Oakland Mills.
Lois enjoyed coloring and birdwatching; however, her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from the St. John’s United Methodist Church, McAlisterville with Rev. Candace Arnold and Dr. Chip Baumgardner officiating. Interment will follow in the Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the Church.
