Obituary for Harvey F. Hepner

Harvey F. Hepner, 87, of Mifflintown passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017 at his home.
Born on April 26, 1930 in Fayette Twp., Juniata County he is the son of the late Frank and Amelia (Varner) Hepner. On August 15, 1951 he married his surviving wife, Stella (DeLancey) Hepner, with whom he was blessed to share more than 66 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, his is survived by: a son, Rev. Dr. Gregory Hepner, of Palm Springs CA; a sister, Vera Smith, of Mifflintown; 2 grandsons, Bryce Hepner, Aaron Hepner and his wife Michelle; and 3 great grandsons, Ethan, Levin and Ronin Hepner.
Three brothers, Norman Hepner, Raymond Hepner, Emory Hepner and two sisters, Ruby Price and Mary Losch preceded him in death.
He was a member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church, McAlisterville, where he had served as custodian and grounds keeper for 40 years along with other committees of the church.
In earlier life, he was employed at the McAlisterville Block Co. for 19 years and later retired from the Pa. Dept. of Transportation in 1991 with 23 years of service. During that time he was honored at an awards ceremony in Clearfield County by the District Superintendent, for outstanding service as an equipment operator. Also he was chosen quarterly employee and employee of the month several times.
Harvey enjoyed his family and traveling with Stella. He loved hunting, spending time at his cabin in the mountains as well as attending flea markets and taking care of his lawn and garden.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family, with his pastor, Rev. Candace Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
