Obituary for Flo Emma Apple

Flo Emma Apple, 96, formerly of Evendale went to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:52 p.m., on Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.
Born on October 25, 1920 in Mt. Pleasant Mills, Snyder County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence L. and Phoebe I. (Davis) Hibbs. Her husband of more than 65 years, Melvin C. Apple, whom she married on November 27, 1941, preceded her in death on March 22, 2007.
Surviving are her children, Donald Apple and his wife Ruth Ann, Roger Apple and his wife Debbie, all of Mechanicsburg, Connie Wagner and her husband Warren, Mifflintown, 1 brother, Clarence R. Hibbs and his wife Olive, Mt. Pleasant Mills, 6 grandchildren, Tricia Baugus, Heather North, Brandon Apple, Nathan Wagner, Andrew Wagner, Gretchen Wray and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Carl L. Hibbs.
Flo attended Fayette High School, McAlisterville and was an active member of the Richfield United Methodist Church, where she had served as Sunday school and Bible school teacher, sang in the choir and attended the Wednesday night bible study. She also volunteered as the Sewing and Cooking 4H leader, for many years, as a driver for Juniata Meals on Wheels, for more than 40 years, and at Abundant Blessings, Mifflintown. Flo was a very social person and loved to visit the sick and participate in the community events around Evendale. She enjoyed sewing and quilting; however, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Apple spent most of her time as a homemaker, who in earlier life was employed at both the Richfield Shirt Factory and as a cleaning lady for The Zendt Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from the Richfield United Methodist Church, Richfield with the Rev. Kenneth Brown officiating. Interment will private, in the East Salem Cemetery, East Salem.
Viewing will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with the family present from 6 – 8 p.m. There will be no viewing at the church, on Wednesday.
