Obituary for Lawrence G. "Larry" " Bugs" Rowe

Lawrence G. “Larry” “Bugs” Rowe, 80, of Evendale, died at 3:45 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.
Born on March 20, 1937 in Mexico, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Ralph Rowe and Beulah (Burris) Rowe-Wolfe. On February 13, 1960 he married his surviving wife, Joanne (Hoffman) Rowe, with whom he was blessed to share more than 57 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Denise Treaster and her husband Bill, Darren Rowe and his wife Melissa, all of Evendale; siblings, Ralph Rowe and his wife Norma, of Titusville, FL, John Rowe, of Burnsville, NC, Betty Landis, of Mt. Pleasant Mills, Margaret Rowe, of Mexico, Virginia McGarvey, of Donnally Mills; 5 grandsons, Benji Treaster, Brody Treaster and his wife Stephanie, Cody Rowe and his wife Courtney, Dalton Rowe, Seth Rowe; and 3 great grandsons, Hunter Treaster, Hayden Treaster and Carter Treaster.
A brother, Charles Rowe and his step father, Lester “Shine” Wolfe, preceded him in death.
He was a 1957 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown and a member of the Richfield United Methodist Church, where he had served as Sunday School Secretary/Treasurer and wrote short stories for the church newsletter. He was also a member of the Richfield Sportsmen’s Club.
Mr. Rowe was employed as a police officer for the Lower Paxton Twp. Police Dept. and retired from the Transportation Division of the Pennsylvania State Police as Office Manager, after 25 years of service. He later was employed by Cherry Hill Hardwoods.
Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending his grandson’s ball games.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 2 p.m. from the Richfield United Methodist Church, Richfield with Pastor Kenneth Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Niemond’s Cemetery, Richfield.
A viewing will be held from 4 – 8 p.m., with the family present from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville. There will be no viewing on Sunday, at the church.
