Harold L. “Shine” Woodward, 73, of Honey Grove, passed away at 6:51 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born on May 28, 1944 in Lewistown, Mifflin County he was a son of Maxwell H. and Irene (Buchanan) Woodward. On August 3, 1968 he married his surviving wife, Edna “Fred” (Peck) Woodward, with whom he was blessed to share more than 48 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Lisa K. Stouffer and her companion Joseph McCalips, of Honey Grove, Tammy L. Specht and her companion Jason Kahley, of Mifflintown, Steven Maxwell Woodward, Sr., of Mifflin; sisters, Betty L. Arentz, of Mifflin, Anna R. Burdge and her companion Steven Burdge, of Honey Grove; 7 grandchildren, Taryn Stouffer, Callie Stouffer, Jenny Brown, Chase Specht, Tyler Specht, Steven Maxwell Woodward, Jr., Dylan C. Woodward; and his 2 boxers, Tator and Sissy.
He was a 1962 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown and was employed as a pipeline welder, as well as a carpenter, plumber and entrepreneur.
Mr. Woodward proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
“Shine” enjoyed collecting antiques, restoring vintage tractors, hunting and fishing. He was an animal lover and loved attending flea markets, where he always enjoyed the “Art of the Deal”.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Judy D. Rowles officiating. Interment will follow in the McCoysville Cemetery, where the Juniata County Veterans Council will accord full military burial honors.
A viewing will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from the funeral home.
