Born on January 16, 1924 in Woodbury, Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Mary (Replogel) Miller. On June 14, 1946 she married her late husband, Palmer E. “Hennie” Leitzel, with who she was blessed to share nearly 49 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on May 13, 1994.
Surviving is her daughter, Eileen Tweed, of Johnstown; grandson, Larry Tweed, III and his wife Gwendolyn, of Bangladesh; and a great grandson, Lawson Tweed; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry Tweed, Jr.
She was a 1942 graduate of Northumberland High School, and a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, McAlisterville, where she sang in the choir for more than 20 years and was a member of the Willing Workers. Vickie was also very active in her community, having been a member of The Rebekah Lodge, the Women’s Club, and the Community Building Board, all of McAlisterville. She was also a Girl Scout leader for more than 25 years and an EMT for the Fayette Twp. EMS.
In earlier life, Selena worked as an attendant at the Selinsgrove Center, Selinsgrove, where she met her husband Palmer. Later she worked as a pressor, for the Shellenberger Shirt Factory and then until retiring in 1993 for Lyon Fashions, both of McAlisterville.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, McAlisterville with the Rev. Erin Bovendam officiating. Interment will be in the Richfield Union Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services, Tuesday at the church.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and kindly ask that memorial donations in Mrs. Leitzel’s memory be made to the Fayette Twp. EMS and Fire Co., 461 Main St., McAlisterville, PA 17049 or to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 15, McAlisterville, PA 17049.
