Obituary for Phyllis L. Shellenberger

Phyllis L. Shellenberger, 84, of Mifflinown was welcomed into heaven at 3:58 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on April 14, 1932 in Fayette Twp., Juniata County she was a daughter of the late Paul and Margaret (Kilmer) Leister. On July 18, 1953, she married her late husband C. Richard “Dusty” Shellenberger, with whom she was blessed to share almost 52 years of marriage, before he preceded her in death on July 4, 2005.
Surviving are four daughters, Tina G. Crim and her husband Bill, of Mifflintown, Gail S. Haubert, of Stafford, VA, Susan S. Mayer and her husband Keith, of Lancaster, Nancy L. Brackbill and her husband Doug, of Mifflin; a sister, Connie Reed, of McAlisterville; and she leaves behind 8 grandchildren; as well as 4 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Shellenberger was a graduate of Fayette High School and attended Central Penn Business School. She was also a member of Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, Mifflintown, where she was a past teacher of the Sunshine Class.
She was a life-long homemaker who taught piano, had worked at the Port Royal Times, and was retired from the Juniata County School District.
Phyllis was very creative, enjoying painting and being an accomplished pianist. She also loved her family and loved her Lord and will long be remembered for her pie baking ability. Together, she and her entire family loved to go fishing, camping and boating at Raystown Lake. She cherished all kinds of family events and was “mom” to everyone. Her door was always open and there was always a seat available at her table.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2017 from the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, Mifflintown with Pastor Ken Hepner and Pastor Steven Munger officiating. Interment will follow in the Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.
There will be no viewing; however, a visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of service, Sunday, at the Church.
For those that wish, memorial donations in Mrs. Shellenberger’s memory may be made to the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, 287 Deerville Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St. Mifflintown.
