Charles R. “Pete” Swarner, 72, of East Waterford died March 10, 2017 at his home.
Born on January 27, 1944, in Lack Twp., Juniata County he was a son of the late Clay H. and Catherine (Donaldson) Swarner. On April 24, 1986 he married his late wife, Margaret J. “Margo” (Selzer) Swarner with whom he was blessed to share more than nine years of marriage before she preceded him in death on November 15, 2011.
Surviving are his siblings, Roy Swarner, Clarence “Ed” Swarner, Robert “Bob” Swarner and his wife Tina, Samuel “Sam” Swarner, all of East Waterford, John Swarner, of Landisburg; sisters, Dorothy Payne, of Savannah, TN, Helen Crist, of Mechanicsburg, Mary Weibley and her husband Ron, of Niota, TN, Zola Mae Swarner-Snyder and her husband Dinks, of East Waterford and many generations of nieces and nephews.
A brother, Ralph Swarner, preceded him in death.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 232, Dry Run.
During his working career he was a lumber jack for different local lumber mills including Wingates Lumber Mill, East Waterford and Tuscarora Hardwoods, New Bloomfield. He also was a school bus driver owning and operating along with his late wife Swarner Busing.
Mr. Swarner proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Pete dearly loved his horses.
All services and interment will private.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
