John E. Bishop, Jr., 45, of East Waterford, died at 5:34 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 in Emergency Room of the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on September 5, 1971 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he was a son of John E. Sr. and Mary Ann (Frantz) Bishop of Mifflintown. On June 18, 2005, he married the love of his life and his best friend, Leslie M. (Campbell) Bishop, with whom he was blessed to share more than 11 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife and parents he is survived by a brother, Dennis Bishop and his wife Michelle, of Honey Grove, a father-in-law, Donald J. “Hinkle” Campbell, a sister-in-law, Elaine Martin and her companion Charlie Henry, all of East Waterford, 2 nieces, Makenzie Bishop, Brittany Hohol and her husband Eric, a nephew, Nathan Henry and a great-niece Mariah Scott.
His mother-in-law Nellie R. “Toots” Campbell preceded him in death.
Mr. Bishop was a 1989 graduate of Juniata High School and a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford.
He currently was employed as a pipe fitter for the United Assoc. Local No. 520 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union, Harrisburg.
John had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying dirt track racing, fishing, rifle and bow hunting, for turkey and deer. He had the God given talent to fix anything and will long be remembered for always willing to lend a hand and help anyone he could. However his greatest enjoyment came from the time he spent with his family and friends, especially his nieces and nephew.
A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Marsha Bookhamer officiating. Interment will follow in the East Waterford Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
