OBITUARY NOTICE
MARIE J. CLUGH
Marie J. Clugh, 90, of Mifflintown, passed away at 6:50 p.m. on Friday, September 9 2016, at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born on August 4, 1926 in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, she was a daughter of the late William S. and Elsie (Carnathan) Shepler. On January 1, 1946, she married her late husband, William J. Clugh, with whom she was blessed to share more than 57 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on May 13, 2003.
Surviving are her sons, David A. Clugh and his wife Rose, of Baltimore, MD, William J. “Rusty” Clugh and his wife Theresa, of Seattle, Washington; sister, Barbara L. Shepler, of Mifflintown and a grandson, David B. Clugh and his wife Alicia, of Rockville, MD.
Mrs. Clugh was a 1944 graduate of Susquehanna Twp. High School and was a very active member of the Free Spring Church of the Brethren, Mifflintown. She was also a lifetime member of the National Campers & Hikers Association and had served as the PA State Director.
Marie had aspired to become a nurse and had even started her training before her wedding to her husband William. Later she served as a claims representative for Capital Blue Cross until her retirement in 1982. During her retirement she served as a volunteer for Hospice-The Bridge, Lewistown.
Marie collected cornhusk dolls and loved to camp with her family, as well as traveling and going on cruises with her husband Bill.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from the Free Spring Church of the Brethren, Mifflintown with Pastor Terry Smith officiating. Interment will be held in the Lost Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, McAlisterville at 10 a.m. on Saturday, prior to the memorial service.
