Obituary for Earl J. Wagner

Earl J.  Wagner
Earl J. Wagner, 87, of the Bridges at Brookline, and formerly of Mifflintown died at 10:05 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Brookline.
Born on August 19, 1928 in Walker Twp., Juniata County he was a son of the late Stewart and Emma (Arnold) Wagner. On August 3, 1951 he married his surviving wife, Dena S. (Sheerer) Wagner, with whom he was blessed to share more than 64 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter; Holly E. Roush and her husband Doug, of Thompsontown, siblings, Kenneth Wagner, of North Ridge Center, McAlisterville, Kermit “Babe” Wagner, of Centre, Louella Cisney, of Spruce Hill, Roy Eugene Wagner, of McClure and he leaves behind 3 precious grandchildren, Logan Roush, Jessica Roush and Jason Roush.
An infant daughter, a brother, Theodore “Pete” Wagner, 3 sisters, Eleanor Wagner, Madalene “Queen” Graybill and Mary “Mac” Ferster preceded him in death.
Mr. Wagner proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, was a member of the Locust Run United Methodist Church and its administrative board; he also served as a trustee of the Locust Run Cemetery Assoc. He formerly was a member of the Juniata Valley Bank Advisory Board for their Port Royal branch, also the Lost Creek Golf Club and its Board of Directors and the Millerstown Moose Lodge No. 925.
In earlier life, he along with his late brother “Pete” ran a dairy farm, after which he was employed by the American Viscose Corp., Lewistown, during this time he started the Earl J. Wagner Trucking Company, Mifflintown. From its inception, he along with 4 other partners will long be remembered for creating Stop 35, Inc., Mifflintown, which became a local landmark along Rt. 322-22.
Earl enjoyed hunting, golfing and square dancing.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from the Locust Run United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barbara Yorks officiating. Interment will follow in the Locust Run Cemetery, Locust Run where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday, at the church.
