Samuel N. Dressler, 92, of McAlisterville, died at 1:10 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Richfield Senior Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on July 18, 1923, in Fayette Twp., Juniata County, he was a son of the late John E. and Viola (Davis) Dressler. On February 13, 1942, he married his late wife, Evelyn M. (Kerstetter) Dressler, with whom he was blessed to shared more than 60 years of marriage.
Surviving are his sons, Bruce S. Dressler, of Mifflintown, Russell J. Dressler and his wife Patricia, of McAlisterville, siblings, Esther Henry, of Lewistown, Annabelle Gordon and her husband Ronald, of McAlisterville, Lora Ann Riggin, of Arizona, Rayona Eaton, of Honey Grove, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were 7 siblings, Kenneth Dressler, Ceylon “Dick” Dressler, Simon Dressler, Lawrence Dressler, Paul Dressler, Ruth Goodling and Helen McNemar.
Mr. Dressler was a member of the Bunkertown Church of the Brethren, McAlisterville.
Until his retirement in 1984, he was employed as a locomotive engineer for Standard Steel, Burnham. After retiring, he enjoyed helping his son Russell on his farm.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2016 from the Bunkertown Church of the Brethren, 52 Bunkertown Road, McAlisterville, with Pastor Wesley Stahl officiating. Interment will follow in the Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.
Viewing will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2016 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville and from10 a.m. until the time of service, on Monday at the church.
