Obituary for Clyde K. Aldefer

Clyde K. Alderfer, 77, of Mt. Pleasant Mills, died at 8:35 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on January 20, 1939 in Franconia, Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Wilmer and Eva (Kratz) Alderfer. On January 17, 1959, he married his surviving wife, Darlene B. (Beidler) Alderfer, with whom he was blessed to share more than 57 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kenneth L. Alderfer and his wife Lori, J. Bryan Alderfer and his wife Lisa, all of McAlisterville, John S. Alderfer and his wife Dawn of Richfield, Randall G. Alderfer and his wife Allyson of Douglas, Alaska, Dale E. Alderfer and his wife Mary, of Newton, Kansas, Laurel E. Alderfer Dean and her husband David, of Elkton, Virginia, Krista J. Roorbach and her husband Doug, of Anderson, Indiana; siblings, Evelyn Wismer of Souderton, Arlen Alderfer and his wife LaRaine, of Morwood, James Alderfer and his wife Gail, of Telford, and he leaves behind 17 grandchildren and a great-grandson.
A son in infancy, Ronald C. Alderfer and two sisters, Mary Alderfer and Lizzie Mae Alderfer preceded him in death.
Mr. Alderfer attended the Boyer Mennonite Church, Middleburg and was a member and choir director of the Susquehanna Valley Men’s Chorus.
In earlier life he owned and operated his own dairy farm from 1963 until 1982. After which he was employed by Sire Power, Tunkhannock, and currently he sold outdoor furnaces.
Clyde had a passion for farming and his outdoor furnace business.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from the Boyer Mennonite Church, 1472 West Ridge Road, Middleburg, with Pastor Mike Byler officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the church and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.
