Michael H. Renninger Jr., 78, of Mifflintown, died at 1:40 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016 at his home.
Born on December 1, 1937 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Michael H. Renninger, Sr. and Virginia (Cummings) Schlegel and her husband Albert. On February 12, 1958, he married his surviving wife, Charlotte (Ehrenzeller) Renninger, with whom he was blessed to share 58 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters, Betty Ryan and her husband Charles, of McAlisterville, Teresa Stoner and her husband Harry, of Middletown, Gloria Willow and her husband Michael, of Mifflintown; sisters, Joyce Schlegel and her husband Gerald, of Mexico and Patricia Bell and her husband Tom, of Mifflintown; eight grandchildren, Sonya and Jason Nace, Michael and Tina Ryan, Larry “J.R.” and Mindy Bassler, Amanda Beth and Kevin Haines, Sara and Brad Barnoski, Samantha and Mark Zimmerman, Miranda Syjud and Montana Syjud; and he leaves behind nine great grandchildren.
A grandson, Dustin Syjud, and a brother, William Renninger preceded him in death.
Mr. Renninger was a 1957 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown.
In earlier life, he was employed by the American Viscose, Corp, Lewistown. Then, for 25 years, until his retirement he was employed by the PA Dept. of Transportation, Mifflintown. During his retirement, he worked as a security guard for Empire Kosher Poultry, Inc., Mifflintown.
Michael loved to go camping with his wife Charlotte and was an avid Penn State Football fan, as well as a NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt supporter. He was well known for his lawn mowing and joke telling.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Erin Bovendam officiating. Interment will be in the Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.
A viewing will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2016 at the funeral home.
