Elsie M. Davis, 87, of the Manor at Perry Village, New Bloomfield and formerly of McAlisterville died at 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Village.
Born on January 18, 1928, in Walker Twp., Juniata County she was a daughter of the late Jacob A. and Edna P. (Keiser) Fulkroad. On February 19, 1944 she married her husband, S. Eugene Davis, with whom she was blessed to share more than 54 years of marriage.
She is survived by her children, Janet L. Ocker and her husband Earl, of Richfield, Edna P. Kerstetter and her husband Jack, of Thompsontown, Florine E. Arbogast and her husband Ronald, of Millerstown, Betty J. Schwerha and her husband William, of Lorton, VA, Emma M. Eby and her husband Dale, of Elizabethtown, KY, Nevin E. Davis and his wife Melody, of Coopersburg, 20 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a great-great granddaughter, Isabella Muller and is the last of her generation having been preceded in death by her siblings, Alice Smith, Rhetta Carvell, Rebecca Beatty, Jay Fulkroad, Pearl Hartinger, Henry Fulkroad, Isabella Reigle, Paul Fulkroad, and Karl Fulkroad.
Elsie was a member of the Bunkertown Church of the Brethren, who enjoyed reading, crocheting and embroidery.
Mrs. Davis was a homemaker, who helped her husband with the farming, went to the farmers markets in Lewistown and Harrisburg, was employed by the Dan Shantz Greenhouse and worked in the Deli at Schlegels Grocery and Hardware Store, East Salem.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from the Bunkertown Church of the Brethren with Pastor Wesley Stahl officiating. Interment will follow in the Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Thursday at the church.
