Ronald R. “Ron” Arnold, 76, of Mifflintown died at 11:27 p.m., on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.
Born on August 15, 1938, in Fermanagh Twp., Juniata County, he was a son of the late Daniel G. and Sara E. (Bardell) Arnold. On August 20, 1960 he married his surviving wife, Betty Jean (Rauch) Arnold with whom he shared more than 54 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Timothy L. Arnold and his wife Julie, of Reedsville, Brenda K. Swartz and her husband Gerald, Jr., of Harrisburg and he leaves behind 2 precious granddaughters, Devyn Marie Arnold and Jenna Mae Arnold.
One infant daughter, Sandra Ellen Arnold, 2 brothers, Robert Arnold, Larry Arnold and 1 sister, Mary Shirk, preceded him in death.
Ronald was a life member and the oldest active member of the Juniata County Sportsman’s Association. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Arnold retired from Conrail, as a conductor.
Ron’s fondness of the outdoors was apparent in his love of hunting, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed shooting trap competitively as well as long range rifling.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Monday, May 11, 2015 from Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Jeffrey Hartzler officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John’s Cemetery, McAlisterville, where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
Viewing will be from 7 - 9 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the funeral home.
