MIFFLINTOWN, Mona E. Jury, 87, of Mifflintown died at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born on August 21, 1926 in Port Royal, Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Ralph W. and Anna Jane (Dunn) Schlegel. On October 5, 1946, she married her surviving husband, Layton M. Jury Sr., with whom she spent more than 67 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her sons, Layton M. Jury, Jr, Ronald E. Jury and his wife Sharlene, all of Mifflintown and her siblings, Gerald E. Schlegel, of Mexico, Donna Lou Fogleman, of Mechanicsburg.
Two brothers, Carl L. Schlegel, Sr., Robert M. Schlegel and one sister, Doris Stoner, preceded her in death.
Mona was a homemaker and member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown. She loved crafts, knitting and needlepoint.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014 from the Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown with Mr. Donald W. “Saint” Prye officiating.
There will be no viewing.
