HONEY GROVE, David L. Eaton, Sr., 75, of Honey Grove (Reeds Gap), died at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on October 14, 1938, in Lack Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Glenness L. and M. Lenore (Page) Eaton. On April 3, 1958, he married his surviving wife Lois (Berrier) Eaton, with whom he spent more than 55 years of marriage.
Surviving are his children: David L. Eaton, Jr. and his wife Grace of Honey Grove, Christine L. Sowers and her husband Daniel of Mifflintown, Glenda A. Slaymaker and her husband Brian of Quakertown, one sister, Rhoda M. Bailor and her husband Glenn of New Bloomfield, and he leaves behind six grandchildren, Robert Eaton, Kevin Eaton, Justin Sowers, Rachel Sowers, Marc Slaymaker and Matthew Slaymaker.
Two sisters, Teresa A. Marshall and Mary Jane Casner preceded him in death.
Mr. Eaton was a 1958 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown, and a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford.
From 1960 to 1986 he was employed by Montgomery Wards of Lewistown and Sunbury, after which he retired from Excel Homes of Liverpool.
David was a true outdoorsman, loving to hunt: however his lifelong passion was farming.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Marsha Bookhamer officiating. Interment will follow in the McCulloch’s Mills Cemetery.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service at the funeral home.
