Obituary for Claire W. Imes (Benner)

MIFFLINTOWN, Claire W. Imes, 101, of the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown, and formerly of Academia, died at 10:58 a.m. Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Brookline.
Born on August 16, 1911 in Richfield, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Hoyt and Mary (Sheaffer) Benner. On July 22, 1927, she married her husband, Miles H. Imes, with whom she spent nearly 67 years of marriage, before he preceded her in death on May 30, 1994.
Surviving are her daughter, Fay E. Campbell and her husband Thomas, a daughter-in-law, Dorothy H. Imes, all of Mifflin, a brother, Lester M. Benner and his wife Beatrice, of Middleburg, five grandchildren, Larry M. Imes, Carol M. Lyter and her husband Tom, Mary C. Ennist and her husband Michael, W. Edward Imes, Tennille Shetron and her husband Shane, all of Mifflin and she leaves behind four great grandchildren, Ryan M. Ennist and his wife Chrissy, of Drexel Hill, Jenna M. Imes, of Allentown, Brooks D. Ennist, of Marysville, Bailey C. Imes, of Mifflin and a step great granddaughter, Michelle Holler and her husband Travis Holler, of Mifflintown.
Preceding her in death was a son Merle C. Imes, on Aug. 24, 2010 and four sisters, Ellie Strawser, Katie Stroup, Florence Benfer and Iva Howell.
She was the oldest living member of the Lower Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, Academia and had been attending the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her cow and chickens as well as cooking, canning and gardening.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Dennis Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Academia Cemetery, Academia.
Viewing will be held from 7 – 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the funeral home.
