Chester W. "Chet"  Arentz
Chester W. “Chet” Arentz, 54, of East Waterford died at 8:24 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 in the Emergency Room of the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on November 2, 1962, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Marlin C. “Pappy” and Virginia L. “Gabby” (Slagle) Arentz. On May 9, 1981, he married his surviving wife, Robin L. (Kelly) Arentz, with whom he was blessed to share more than 35 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Cindy Foody and her companion B.J. Holton, of East Waterford, Derrick Arentz and his companion Andrea Melcher, of Lewistown, Tya S. Hughes and her husband Roger, of Mifflintown; siblings, Donald Arentz and his wife Kathy, of Fannettsburg, Shelby Dietz and her husband Jeff, of Mifflintown, Melissa Hosler and her husband Larry, of East Waterford, Mary Palm, of Walnut, April Louder and her husband Kevin, of Mifflintown, Geraldine Dalton and her husband Furman, of Honey Grove, Naomi Clouser and her husband Dave, of Cross Keys; 8 grandchildren, Leah Foody, McKenna Foody, Noah Foody, Madison Arentz, Isaac Baker, Alexis Arentz, Dylan Grassmyer, and Dixie Hughes; and his long time best friend Tony Dalton and his family.
A grandson, Braden Hostetter, a son-in-law, Wesley Hostetter, two brothers, Harold Arentz and Marlin “Bill” Arentz and a sister, Evelyn Hutchinson, preceded him in death.
He attended the Lost Creek Mennonite Church, Oakland Mills.
Mr. Arentz was employed as a laborer for Union No. 824, before his disability.
Chester proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Chet enjoyed trapping, hunting and fishing; but, his true passions were his animals, gardening, helping Tony and spending time with his grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from the Lost Creek Mennonite Church, 2682 Long Road, Mifflintown with Pastor Keith Graybill officiating. Interment will follow in the McCulluch’s Mills Cemetery, Honey Grove, where the Juniata County Veterans Council will accord full military burial honors.
Viewing will be from 7 – 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
